Feeling Anxious, Overwhelmed or Struggling With Life?

A Compassionate Place to Feel Heard, Understood and Supported

Are you finding life difficult at the moment?

Perhaps you're struggling with anxiety, feeling low or overwhelmed, dealing with painful experiences from your past, or finding that your relationships aren't what they used to be.

You may be constantly overthinking, putting everyone else's needs before your own, or feeling as though you've lost the confidence and happiness you once had.

Sometimes you know exactly what's troubling you. At other times, you may simply feel that something isn't right.

Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to work through it alone.

At JP Counselling Group Practice, we provide professional, compassionate counselling for individuals and couples in Hull, Hedon and East Yorkshire, alongside online counselling across the UK.

Our team of counsellors offers a welcoming, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore your feelings, understand your experiences and begin finding a way forward.

You don't need to have all the answers before reaching out.

How Can We Help You?

Everyone experiences life's difficulties differently.

Whether you're facing a particular challenge or finding it hard to explain how you feel, counselling can provide time and space to understand what's happening and explore what you need.

Anxiety & Overthinking

Do you find yourself constantly worrying, imagining the worst or struggling to switch off?

Counselling can help you understand your anxiety, explore its causes and develop ways to feel more settled, confident and able to manage everyday challenges.

Depression & Low Mood

Are you feeling emotionally exhausted, struggling with motivation or finding it difficult to enjoy the things you once loved?

We offer a supportive space to explore low mood, self-criticism, feelings of hopelessness and the experiences that may be contributing to how you feel.

Trauma & Difficult Past Experiences

Do painful memories or experiences from your past continue to affect how you feel about yourself, others or the world around you?

Our trauma-informed counsellors can help you explore these experiences at a pace that feels manageable, developing greater understanding, emotional awareness and ways of coping.

Couples & Relationship Counselling

Are you and your partner struggling to communicate, experiencing repeated arguments or feeling emotionally distant?

Couples counselling offers an opportunity to understand relationship patterns, explore difficulties and consider ways forward together.

Work Stress & Burnout

Are you feeling overwhelmed by work, struggling to switch off or finding that stress is affecting your wellbeing and relationships?

Counselling can help you explore workplace pressures, personal expectations, boundaries and ways to develop a healthier balance.

Bereavement & Loss

Are you struggling with the loss of someone important or finding it difficult to adjust to life after bereavement?

Grief can bring many different emotions, including sadness, anger, guilt, loneliness and uncertainty.

We offer a compassionate space to explore your loss and discover what support may be helpful as you adjust to life following bereavement.

Low Self-Esteem & Personal Growth

Do you often doubt yourself, worry about what others think or feel that you're never quite good enough?

Counselling can help you explore self-critical beliefs, develop greater self-understanding and build confidence in expressing your needs and being yourself.

A Personal Welcome Note from Jane

Hello, I'm Jane, one of the two Directors of JP Counselling Group Practice.

I'm a person-centred and integrative counsellor and an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred.).

I understand that taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting.

You may be uncertain about opening up to someone you don't know, worried about being judged or unsure whether counselling will help.

That's why creating a genuine, compassionate and supportive therapeutic relationship is so important to us.

Alongside my fellow Director, Paul, and our team of counsellors, we aim to offer a practice where people feel comfortable being themselves and where their individual experiences are respected.

We believe finding the right counsellor matters.

As a group practice, we offer a choice of counsellors with different experiences, approaches and specialist interests, helping you find someone who is suited to your needs.

You won't be expected to fit a particular approach to counselling. We'll work with you to explore the support that feels appropriate for your circumstances.

A Safe and Compassionate Space to Be Yourself

Perhaps you've spent a long time keeping your feelings to yourself, appearing strong for others or believing that you should be able to cope on your own.

Counselling offers an opportunity to put those expectations aside.

At JP Counselling, we believe that being listened to, understood and accepted without judgement can be an important part of meaningful change.

Our counsellors aim to create an environment where you can:

Talk openly about difficult feelings and experiences.

Explore thoughts and emotions you may struggle to share elsewhere.

Understand patterns affecting your relationships and wellbeing.

Recognise your individual needs, strengths and boundaries.

Develop greater self-awareness and self-compassion.

Explore realistic and meaningful changes in your life.

We won't tell you how you should feel or what decisions you must make.

Instead, we work alongside you, recognising that you are the expert in your own experiences.

Our counsellors may draw on person-centred, integrative, CBT-informed, compassion-focused and other therapeutic approaches according to their individual qualifications and experience.

Getting Started Is Simple

1. Let's Talk

Contact JP Counselling to arrange your free 15-minute introductory conversation.

This is an opportunity to briefly discuss what you're looking for, ask questions and explore whether counselling is suitable for you.

2. Find the Right Counsellor

We'll discuss your preferences and needs, helping you identify a counsellor within our team whose experience and approach may be appropriate.

You can also browse the team profiles and express a preference for a particular counsellor.

3. Begin Your Counselling

Your first full session provides an opportunity to explore your circumstances in more detail, discuss your goals and understand how counselling will work.

There is no expectation that you must share everything immediately.

We work at a pace that feels manageable for you.
